After creating a dynamic number and adding our script to the website’s source code, it is important to check that Dynamic numbers are working correctly on your website.

There are different sources we can test:

  1. Direct Traffic
  2. Google Paid Traffic
  3. Web Referrals from ___

Direct Traffic

Step 1: Open an Incognito Window.

Step 1a: Navigate to the website using the direct URL, and confirm that the number is swapping out.
Example: www.my_website.com

Step 2: Check the "Real Time" tab in PhoneWagon.

To get to the data go to "My Numbers" --> Click into campaign --> Real Time. Here, you want to confirm the source and that the number matches what is displayed on the website.

Number: One number from the pool of Dynamic numbers.
Activate Date:
Date when current Dynamic number was displayed on the website last
Reference:
the source which lead them to the page.

Note: The Real Time tab does not indicated a phone call was made, it is there to show you how often the number is being swapped out and also serves as a check to show that the number is swapping correctly.

Step 3: Test Call (Optional)

If you wish to see how the data will appear in the dashboard, simply give the number a call! After the call has rang for a few seconds, navigate to the dashboard to see the data. For this source, you should see "Direct."

Google Paid

Google Paid is the source that you will see when a visitor clicks through one of your paid Google Ad campaigns.

Step 1:
Open an Incognito Window

Step 1a: Simulate reference Google Paid.

To test this source without clicking through the ad directly, add the following post-fix to your URL:

/?gclid=test

Example: https://your_website.com/?gclid=gclid&keyword=keyword

Step 2: Check the "Real Time" tab in PhoneWagon to see the numbers in the pool, and confirm the source

Step 3: Test Call (Optional)

Note: If your PhoneWagon company is integrated with Google Ads, your test call will not show up in Google Ads as a conversion. In this simulation you are impersonating the source. For a conversion to push there must be a GCLID that only can happen when an Ad is clicked. If you're looking to test the conversion, you will have to click through a paid ad to make the test call.

Web Referrals From ____

In PhoneWagon we have the possibility to track visitors from a specific website (Facebook, Yelp, Google Organic, a review site... possibilities are endless)! To show an example, we'll walk you through testing Facebook.

Click on the link that will bring you to the website, and watch the number on the site swap!
